West Memphis Blues & Rhythm Society Pays Tribute To The Plantation Inn
The West Memphis Blues & Rhythm Society proudly presents a tribute to the legendary Plantation Inn, where Phineas Newborn, Calvin Newborn and Willie Mitchell played for the likes of Tommy Dorsey, Jim Dickinson and Elvis.
A blues symposium is scheduled for 9:30 - 3:30 on Oct. 19: "Ben Branch, Bowlegs, and the Birth of the Memphis Sound." It'll be held at Southland Park Gaming and Racing Event Center in West Memphis.
The Plantation Inn Tribute Gala starring Wayne Jackson and the PI Blues Band will be held 8 - 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Southland Park.
The Plantation Inn Main Stage Amateur R&B Contest will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Worthington Park in West Memphis. Judges are Calvin Newborn, Brenda Berger O'Brien, Boo Mitchelll and Wayne Jackson.
