Rachelandthecity Does It Again
The parapatetic Rachel Hurley had another breakthrough in her expanding universe of Memphis music scene-related activities, this time adding a new Internet DJ show, "Ardent Sessions," on BreakThru Radio.
The show features performances from the best indie bands on the scene, live from Memphis' own Ardent Studios, where the likes of Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Isaac Hayes, ZZ Top, R.E.M., James Taylor, and the White Stripes have recorded.
Meanwhile, Rachel soldiers on in her quest to report on the comings and goings of Memphis music, and her reports are must-reading at Rachelandthecity. Despite her modest description of her work - "I live in Memphis. I go out. - she's been brilliant in her ability to transform what's she's passionate about into a calling, and Memphis is the better for it.
