SENIOR ACCOUNTANT Location: MEM (Memphis, TN) Salary: $23.21 - $29.02 per hour ($48,276 - $60,361 midpoint) Hiring Manager: David Hinton Job Duties & Responsibilities  Work in the corporate accounting department for Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (the “Company”) with primary responsibilities related to the inventory accounting and reporting of Colgan Air (“Colgan”), a newly acquired company located in Manassas, VA.  Participate in all aspects of Colgan’s accounting for its inventory of spare parts and supplies to ensure that its accounting for inventory is in accordance with GAAP and the control requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  Initial responsibility will involve assisting Colgan in the transition of its accounting department from Manassas, VA to Memphis, TN.  Transition responsibilities will also include the evaluation of the accounting policies of Colgan to ensure that they are compliant with the policies of the Company.  Typical job responsibilities associated with position include the following: Monthly reconciliation of rotable and expendable inventory records to the general ledger.  Assistance in the monthly close process to produce accurate and timely financial statements.  For assigned areas, this will include the review and preparation of recurring journal entries and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.  Provide assistance in the analytical review of monthly & quarterly financial results for assigned areas of responsibility and comparisons to budgeted results and identify the cause of significant variances and communicate results to accounting management.  This will include inventory and the maintenance department as well as other areas deemed appropriate.  Monitor and maintain documentation regarding significant maintenance contracts, their key terms and rates and accounting’s review of key contract terms for correct accounting treatment.  Serve as an accounting liaison to the maintenance department and assist in the monthly review of maintenance expenses as compared to budget to identify problem areas.  Assist accounting management in the preparation and distribution of Company policies and procedures and participate in projects to improve inventory-related systems.Coordinate periodic physical inventory counts of spare parts and supplies.  Assist accounting management in meeting the requests of external auditors during quarterly and annual reviews of financial statements.  Develop and project an understanding of the Colgan's business and operations.  Actively participate in efforts that can improve overall productivity and in meaningful profit generation activities. Demonstrate effective leadership qualities to include willingness to take ownership for issues relating to accounting, actively initiate steps to continually improve the effectiveness of the accounting function and actively exhibit and promote a Pinnacle team orientation. Exercise conscientious and courteous communications both written and oral with Pinnacle and non-Pinnacle personnel. Other Functions:  Perform additional functions that are assigned from time to time. Typical Physical Demands:  Majority of job duties will be performed sitting and working on a personal computer.  Working in accounting files will require standing, bending and stooping.  Working with historical information files will require movement and handling of boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Typical Working Conditions:  Work will be performed at the corporate office and will include working and meeting with employees from other departments and buildings. Minimum Qualifications:  Accounting degree from major educational institution, two to four years of relevant accounting experience in public or private accounting.  Significant experienced in use of personal computers and related software (Excel, Word). Special Requirements:  Position may require working on nights and weekends as required to meet department deadlines.
