The Memphis Tourism Foundation sponsors these presentations as a way to explore trends and inform issues affecting the competitiveness of Memphis and its tourism industry.

The special "conversations" were kicked off June 7, 2007, when Paul O’Connor, executive director of World Business Chicago, spoke about the importance of city branding and offer practical advice from his hometown's experience. For a summary of his comments, click here.
Jeff Speck, author of Suburban Nation and former director of design for National Endowment for the Arts, spoke May 1, 2008, and laid out specific recommendations for improving Memphis' design, physical environment and connectivity: "The City Livable: Modest Suggestions for Making Memphis Great."
